We developed an SMS marketing app that let all event attendees participate in an on-site contest in exchange for signing up to the TFOB marketing list. All attendees received a small printed flyer alerting them to the contest as they entered the park. The contest was to win a 4 pack of VIP tickets for the following year’s event.

We designed an interactive series of automated SMS messages to make sure each contest entrant provided both their name and their email address. Once we had that, we sent them a confirmation text and email letting them know that they had been entered into the contest.

With such a short turn-around time, a printing shortage lead to flyers being handed out to only 10,000 of the estimated 30,000 attendees. Despite that, the performance far exceeded expectations.

Project recap

The contest was a resounding success. TFOB was able to add a substantial number of subscribers to their email list, especially considering the flyer shortage. Plans are already in place to repeat the contest again next year with a longer lead time to ensure flyers can be made available to all attendees this time.
