Simplicate gets the call ...

We developed all of the digital marketing materials for The Gentlemen’s Expo for the first 3 years of the show. We developed a campaign aimed to help men “be more interesting”. We designed a website that helped explain the concept of the show, and promote all the reasons why any gentlemen (or gentlewomen) might want to attend.

We designed contests, emails, social media campaigns, PPC campaigns, remarketing campaigns and way, way more. No stone was left unturned to advertise and promote the show. It was a labour of love for us, and we think it showed in the work.

By the numbers...

The Gentlemen’s Expo launched to a much larger than expected attendance for a first time show of it’s kind. Our marketing efforts were covered by Strategy Magazine back in October of 2013. The show won back-to-back awards for tradeshow of the year by the Canadian Event Industry Awards Society.

Logo and brand development

One of the first things we did was to redesign their logo. The first draft had been created by one of the founders using clip-art. We maintained the same vintage feel, but kept it more managable and less busy.

Conversion optimization

We spent a lot time optimizing the ticket pages and creating multiple customized landing pages. The landing pages targeted niche groups to promote only the event features and special guests that would be of the most interest to them. We created individual landing pages for: foodies, sports fans, music fans, car fans, and more.

Advertising

With our partner agency, March1Studios, we designed every piece of print and digital advertising for 3 years worth of shows. That included banner ads, mobile ads, newspaper, magazine and out-of-home ads. We were especially proud of our “Gentlemen’s Tips” series of infographic ads that ran on subways and streetcars.

Email marketing

Over the course of 3 years, we developed countless emails for various purposes. Sales email, sponsorship emails, partner emails, launch party invitations, you name it, we designed it.

We even built a system that allowed our client to easy prepare emails of their own that they could share with sponsorship partners who would send it to their lists on our behalf.

We were also responsible for developing a number of 4 and 10 page print brochures that were used to pitch sponsors and vendors to participate in the show.

Project recap

Working on The Gentlemen’s Expo for 3 consecutive years was some of the most rewarding and exhausting time we’ve spent as a company. Following the 2015 show, The Gentlemen’s Expo was sold to another company who decided to manage the marketing in-house using their own team. We were sad to see them go, but happy to have been a part of their launch and growth.
